step-by-step chocolate caramel oat squares

Press crumbs evenly into 9x13" pan.

Sprinkle chocolate chips over.
Unwrap all the caramels. Definitely the most labor-intensive part of the whole shebang.
Heat the cream, then add the caramels and stir...
Until it's all melted and smooth.
Drizzle the caramel over the chocolate chips.
Sprinkle the reserved crumbs on top, covering evenly.
Bake, cool, cut, refrigerate.
(Then remind yourself, once again, that your 1949 countertop is not the most attractive backdrop for pictures.)
