Have I mentioned that Bug Bug is completely obssessed with the musical, "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat?" Totally my fault - I saw the musical as a kid and loved the soundtrack, and I introduced her to it. We haven't stopped listening to it since. It's the story of the biblical Joseph, described thus, "A young man's dreams get him into trouble with his 11 brothers, who sell him into slavery. A series of misfortunes befall him until his gift at interpreting dreams raises him to great power, and reunites him with those he loves." And Pharoah is portrayed as Elvis, so what more could you want? "No one had rights or a vote but the king. In fact, you might say, he was fairly right-wing."
Anyway, Bug is always interested in Joseph's coat of many colors. When we were deciding what kind of cupcakes to bring for her school birthday celebration, she asked if we could make lots of colors of icing so the cupcakes would look like Joseph's coat. She asked for 10 icing colors, but I thought 4 was more my speed. She also wanted them to have tiny pink hearts and "glass" (sanding sugar) multicolored sprinkles. The sprinkles got lost in the shuffle, and I don't think anyone would peg these as Broadway revivalist cupcakes, but they did come out really cute!
